The physical aim of yoga postures is to make our bodies, especially our joints, both stable and flexible. Assanas (or postures) are designed to move our bodies through all the varying movement patterns that we experience, exercising our bodies and minds to be flexible and adaptive to all that we encounter.
- Yogaemphasises the link between the body, breath and mind.
- When yoga postures are done with appropriate breathing, stress is reduced and the mind becomes calm.
- yoga can provide the foundation for perfect health.
For any yoga program to be effective, it must take account of your particular health problems and be easy for you to understand and follow.
Your first session will be an initial assessment. Your individual needs (including any health problems) and your personal goals will be discussed and assessed. Based on this assessment, a program of movements and breathing techniques will be designed and taught to you. It will be tailored to your individual needs and will be easy for you to understand and follow if you wish to practice it at home.
In subsequent sessions, your progress will be reviewed and your program will be adjusted so that it continues to challenge you and remains appropriate and helpful for your particular needs. You can expect to progress from one -to-one consultations to a small class, but your program will continue to be tailored to your personal needs.
We run regular yoga classes at the centre on Wednesdays at 11:15am and 12:30pm. These classes are limited to five persons to maintain individual attention and instruction.
