Natalie Legge - BSEd(ExSc), MEx&SpSc(SpPerf), MChiro
Natalie, a chiropractor, has spent more then 18 years being involved in sport; either training herself, coaching or advising her patients on how to achieve optimal physical health. This has led her to experience many types of injuries over the years and many different forms of manual therapy. Chiropractic was her mainstay during a rowing career that spanned 10 years and this is what convinced her to initially take on the intense program of study to become a chiropractor.
Natalie originally began a career in Sport Science working at the NSW Institute of Sport for 8 years before retraining as a chiropractor. This gave her exposure to athletes at the highest level, working alongside elite coaches as part of an integrative support system.
Natalie has a Masters of Chiropractic from Macquarie University, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Exercise Science and Sports Performance from The Ohio State University and the University of Sydney respectively.
In addition to practicing chiropractic, Natalie teaches at the School of Exercise Science at the Australian Catholic University, tutoring exercise science students in introductory and functional anatomy. Teaching others is a constant reinforcement of understanding how the body works which Natalie applies to her patients in their treatment and management in the clinic.
As a former Australian representative rower, Natalie enjoys an active lifestyle including cycling, playing soccer, taking the dog for a walk and going to the gym. She has maintained her passion for rowing through coaching.
Natalie’s treatment is an integration of techniques, tailored to address the musculoskeletal structure and function. An initial consultation includes a full body assessment with a focus on the patient’s chief complaint. Treatment will always be included in the initial consultation so that patients can walk away with some pain relief. Treatments tend to include joint mobilization and manipulation, soft tissue therapies such as myofascial release, trigger point therapy and musculoskeletal dry needling and lastly exercise prescription. Depending on the individual, Natalie likes to address areas of the body that may require strengthening, muscle activation or flexibility work to help improve range of movement.
Natalie believes treatment needs to take into account each patient’s particular needs and goals, and seeks to tailor each patient’s chiropractic care to ensure the best outcome.
Natalie is excited to be joining the Max Remedial team and looks forward to working with the other therapists to provide patients with a complete integrative approach to their care.
