Margaret brings 24 years experience in mind-body health to her role as a yoga teacher and yoga therapist and she enjoys sharing the benefits of yoga with others. Margaret is also a qualified Pilates instructor. In 1994, Margaret founded the Yoga Studio in Newtown where she taught general classes and yoga therapy. She developed and taught a nationally-accredited qualification (Diploma in Teaching the Science and Art of Yoga).
Recently, she completed the three year, Graduate Diploma of Yoga Therapy in India studying under Dr. Natesan Chandrasekaran (MBBS). Dr Chandrasekaran has been a practising medical doctor for over 30 years. In this course he combined the ancient teachings of yoga and Ayurveda with modern medical knowledge.
Doctors, osteopaths and naturopaths refer their patients to Margaret and she works closely with them to bring their patients back to health and wellbeing.
Margaret teaches a personal yoga practice tailored to the goals, needs, and abilities of each student. After an initial assessment, she designs a short practice in to address any problems or improve any areas that the student wishes to work on. The student is able to practice this sequence at home to work on increasing flexibility, improving alignment, and increasing strength and fitness. Periodically, the practice will be modified so that the student continues to progress.
Margaret applies a therapeutic yoga approach to a range of conditions including those involving the musculoskeletal, digestive, respiratory, cardio-vascular, nervous, and endocrine systems. Simple diet and other lifestyle modifications suited to each person may also be suggested.
